Baccarat Protocols
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards that are valued less than ten are said to be worth their printed value while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual persons; they merely act as the two hands to be played).
2 hands of two cards are then given out to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The score for each hand is the total of the two cards, but the initial digit is dumped. For eg, a hand of seven and 5 will have a total score of 2 (sevenplusfive=12; drop the ‘one’).
A third card may be given out depending on the foll. practices:
- If the player or banker has a total of eight or 9, then both players stand.
- If the bettor has five or lower, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of 5 or less. If the player hits, a chart might be used in order to decide if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The larger of the two scores wins. Successful wagers on the banker payout nineteen to twenty (even odds less a five % commission. Commission is tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure that you have cash left over before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie generally pays out at eight to 1 and on occasion 9 to 1. (This is not a good wager as ties happen less than one every ten hands. be wary of laying money on a tie. Nevertheless odds are remarkably better – 9 to one vs. 8 to one)
Played properly, baccarat presents fairly good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.
Baccarat Tactics
As with most games, Baccarat has some common misunderstandings. One of which is very similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is in no way an indicator of future results. Keeping track of previous conclusions on a chart is for sure a complete waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.
The most common and probably most successful strategy is the 1-3-two-six concept. This plan is used to increase profits and cutting back risk.
Begin by betting one unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, take away four so you have two on the third bet. If you win the 3rd bet, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a sum of six on the fourth wager.
If you don’t win on the first bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the first bet followed up by loss on the second brings about a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you come out even. Arriving at a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. Thus you can get beaten the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
