Baccarat is bet on with 8 decks in a shoe. Cards valued less than ten are counted at face value and with Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and A is 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these are not really people; they just represent the 2 hands that are dealt).
Two cards are given to both the ‘house’ and ‘gambler’. The score for every hand is the total of the 2 cards, but the 1st digit is dumped. For example, a hand of 5 and 6 has a total of one (5 plus six equals eleven; drop the initial ‘one’).
A 3rd card may be given out based on the rules below:
- If the gambler or banker achieves a score of eight or nine, both players hold.

The better of the two hands wins. Winning wagers on the house payout nineteen to Twenty (even payout minus a 5% commission. Punto Banco Method
