Baccarat Standards
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards that are valued under 10 are said to be worth face value and on the other hand ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they just portray the two hands to be played).
2 hands of 2 cards shall then be given out to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for each hand will be the total of the two cards, but the initial digit is dumped. For e.g., a hand of 7 and 5 produces a value of 2 (7plusfive=12; drop the ‘one’).
A 3rd card might be given depending on the foll. practices:
- If the bettor or banker has a tally of eight or 9, both gamblers stand.
- If the gambler has five or less, he/she hits. gamblers stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of 5 or lesser. If the bettor hits, a chart will be used to ascertain if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The bigger of the two scores wins. Winning stakes on the banker pay at nineteen to 20 (even money less a five percent commission. Commission is followed closely and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure that you have cash remaining before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to one. Baccarat Tactics

In other words that you can lose the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
